PAPERHEAD Golden Clips and Regular Clips explained
Golden clips in PAPERHEAD: DEVLOG 4 (pre-release) vs a verified Chapter 2 white-box drop. Regular clip shops and upgrade prices remain unverified as of 2026-10-10.
FAQ
What are golden clips used for in PAPERHEAD?
What are regular clips for?
Are golden clips required to finish PAPERHEAD?
Where was golden clips gameplay confirmed on video?
Does the Steam lore graph relate to golden clips?
Golden clips and regular clips are two currencies Paperhead te4m described before launch. Treat DEVLOG statements as pre-release design intent—the shipped game on 2026-10-09 may differ. On video, we have one clear Golden Clips pickup moment; we do not yet have verified shop or upgrade-tree menus.
What did DEVLOG 4 say about Regular clips?
According to DEVLOG 4 (published 2025-10-02, pre-release; the final build may differ), Regular clips behave like the older demo / EP.0 economy: they power a consumables shop for health, ammo, armor, extra weapons, and—at “insane” prices—skill points. The log positions the whole clip system as optional comfort, not a hard gate for story progress.
Verified on video as of 2026-10-10: nothing—no consumables shop UI, clip counters, or purchase prices appear in our cleared fact sheet. Do not assume EP.0 shop layouts match the full game.
What did DEVLOG 4 say about Golden clips?
Same DEVLOG introduces Golden clips as new collectibles hidden in secret areas, spent on an upgrade tree covering more ammo/health, ability and weapon upgrades, and silly extras. The worked example: moving physical objects, with a level 2 perk to jump off carried objects mid-air.
Again: pre-release wording. We have not confirmed tree layout, total golden count, or per-upgrade costs in the release build.
What has release gameplay actually shown?
Verified evidence is narrow but useful:
- Golden Clips white-box prompt at the Chapter 2 title transition (
8lCFpBuyIvU@15:41), alongside the stylized PRØJ3CT G.3.P.P.3.T.T.Ø chapter card. - Secrets and Lore counters on LEVEL CLEARED! screens elsewhere in the same fact set (for example 0 / 2 secrets and 0 / 10 lore on chapter 1)—supporting that secret hunting is tracked, not that every secret pays golden clips.

For how chapters are ordered, use the chapter list. For combat currencies tied to bodies and pencils, see DEVLOG 3 notes in the weapons and kicks guide—also marked pre-release where applicable.
How might clips interact with lore and secrets?
Steam marketing shows a lore relationship graph (nodes such as THE FACILITY). That UI is not proof of clip drops, but level clears do track LORE and SECRETS separately on verified video.

What we have not verified yet
| Topic | Status as of 2026-10-10 |
|---|---|
| Regular clip shop UI and prices | Not verified on video |
| Golden clip upgrade tree UI | Not verified on video |
| Total golden clips in a full playthrough | Unknown |
| Each upgrade’s mechanical effect beyond DEVLOG examples | Not verified in retail footage |
| Whether skill-point purchases still match DEVLOG pricing tone | Unknown |
When shop footage surfaces, this page should gain timestamped frames, not guessed numbers. Until then, the honest golden clips takeaway is: they exist in the economy design, they appear at least once on video in Chapter 2, and the rest is still opaque.
